We need today not only to tell others we love them but need to show them the Love of God.
1 John 3:16-end
There is something today that is missing in our world and I am sad to say it is even missing in some churches and among some folks who claim to be followers of Christ. I thought today would be a good day to write and talk about this.
Today some people do not care about others unless they do something for them or they base love on stuff like how a person looks? I know there have been good people and even Godly people who have taken part in beauty contests but I do not think they show what true beauty is.
True beauty is what is in your heart and soul.
I heard this story about this man who went to war well he got shot in the war. When he was in the hosp. while he was waiting for his wife to come see him he saw in another bed a girl came to see her boy friend or husband who had been shot.
She looked at him and turned and walked out. He was no longer good looking to her because what he looked on the outside had changed.
Well, this guy David was now worried and his wife came into the room looked at the bed and then looked at his chart. David was getting worried and then she looked at his face under the covers and saw how bad he was shot.
Then she gave him the biggest kiss right on his burn face. She told him she looked at his chart because she wanted to make sure it was her guy before she kissed him.
That guy today is an evangelist for the Lord Jesus and goes into the public schools to talk to teens.
Action: Anyone can say they love another person with their lips but true love should produce action.
Like when I was growing up and my dad had to spank my brother, sister, or yours truly he said he did it because he loved us. It turns out he loved me the most. L.O.L. (L.O.L.= Laugh Out Loud)
Jesus tells us the two most important commandments are to love the Lord with all your heart, all of your soul, and all of your mind and the other is to love others.
If I recall right in another part of the Bible it tells us we do not have God in our hearts, souls, and lives if we do not love others.
Love means you accept others as they are but you also love them so much that you want them to be changed by the love and power of God.
I recall years back I had a shirt that said Jesus Christ loves Bill Clinton and you too Romans 5:8.
When people saw it I heard all kinds of thoughts and questions about it. Yes, it is one thing to not agree with what some leader is doing far as their political office goes but the Bible tells us to love all people. I am sad to say some of the negative thoughts I heard were expressed by the family of God.
Think of a way you can love another person. It does not have to be something big it could be taking some person out to lunch, it could be writing a letter, sending an email or just asking some person how they are doing.
Churches also can do things to reach out to those who need love.
I admit a thing that drives me nuts is too often some big churches become too focus on their programs instead of putting their focus on people. They are afraid if we get non church people -- kids in our churches that they will do stuff that we think you should not do at church. Smoke, Wear caps, Wear clothes with holes in them. How would your church treat a person that came that was? A political leader you did not agree with? A person who was part of the gay life? A person who had been in prison? A person who had been under church discipline but now had truly repented and was trying to get back into fellowship? A person who drank too much or used drugs? A person who had AIDS?
If your church would not love and accept all those people your church does not have the love of Jesus or it needs to grow in the understanding of the love of God.
If we read the NT we can see Jesus upset most the religious folks because He hanged out with all people including those who were hated and even hated by the so called church folks.
Lets go out love the Lord and all the souls He has made. Amen?
