Keeping Your Love Life Alive With Romance
What is romance? Does that word bring thoughts of sappy love
poems and red roses? There is so much more to romance than
that. A lot of people get the wrong idea about what romance
is supposed to be. Many people see it as a way to "woo" or
get your lover when it should instead be a way of expressing
feelings you already have for your lover.
Ask almost any couple and they may tell you that they were
romantic at the start, but over the months and years the
romance just seemed to fade. Why does this happen? Well,
too many people think that they are supposed to work so hard
to get the person to begin with. The guy will buy flowers
and candy and maybe even gifts. He will remember every
anniversary, even the weekly ones and he will ring in each
one with a new gift. He may write poems, love letters, or
songs to his beloved. The woman is enamored! She is his.
Then over time, the love letters seem to fade. I mean,
what's the point - you see each other every day, yes? And
then it seems the flowers and gifts only come on special
occasions. Then they only come on holedays and birthdays. In
time, it may seem that you never even go out anymore. You
would just love to have a date once in awhile.
You may even be one of those unfortunate couples who doesn't
even say I love you frequently, unless you count the "love
ya" grunt that you get in passing when someone is leaving or
going to work. What happened?! How do you bring back that
loving feeling - or keep from losing it to begin with?
First, you need to understand that romance is not about
winning your partner. It should be about expressing your
emotions for that person. Your affections should grow over
time so your romantic efforts will grow as well. Don't pull
out all your arsenal in the beginning. Let it grow and build
as your love grows. Then as time goes by, you want to always
remember ways to show your partner you care and appreciate
them. Whether it's a simple little note slipped into a
briefcase or a foot massage at the end of the day, you can
show your partner how you care.
You may decide to treat her to a candlelit bubble bath or
him to a full-body romantic massage. You may plan a surprise
date night or rent a movie and cuddle up on the couch. Just
cast your daily worries aside and focus on each other. Find
time to do this every day and you will find that the romance
just comes naturally.
